The problem

The Buffalo Soldier National Museum came to us 2 months before the start of the 2020 Coronavirus Quarantine. At that time, their current website was not user-friendly and wasn’t effective for e-commerce. As one of the only museums dedicated to the Buffalo Soldiers’ history, and African American military history in general, their goal was to increase their national footprint online and raise awareness about this exciting tourist location in Houston. The museum also needed a way to increase its earnings through venue rentals, museum memberships, and ticket sales.

User-friendly website design

For the museum, we created a brand new WordPress website that allowed intuitive navigation for users. For example, website users looking to purchase admissions tickets had multiple opportunities on the homepage to just click a button and be directed straight to the ticket checkout. This made converting extremely easy and increased overall user engagement by over 30%.

Their new website was also created with Woocommerce to allow for online gift shop purchases. This was powerful for BSNM during the pandemic, because they were able to continue to sell across the country, and locally, while having the museum closed due to the quarantine.

SEO-generated venue rental leads

When we first started working with the museum, venue rentals were the largest profit generator. The museum offers amazing event space that can be used for everything from weddings, to office parties or meetings.

We paired SEO and content marketing to help generate over 250 new event rental leads in the first 6 months post-quarantine, with a closing rate of an incredible 70%.
